International Transport Workers’ Federation, ITF
The International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) consists of a federation of 594 transport trade unions in 136 countries, representing around 5 million workers. The ITF is one of 11 International Trade Secretariats allied to the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU). The ITF represents transport workers at world level and promotes their interests through global campaigning and solidarity. It is dedicated to the advancement of independent and democratic trade unionism, and to the defense of fundamental human and trade union rights.
POU is a house union representing the Senior Officers in PSA Corporation and is affiliated to ITF via the ITF’s Dockers’ Section. The ITF Dockers’ Section represents trade unions organising not only those who are directly involved in cargo handling (dock workers, longshoremen, waterfront workers, stevedores, warehouse workers etc. but also workers indirectly involved in cargo handling such as those employed by agencies, port authorities, forwarders, etc. Workers performing tasks related to the arrival or departure of ships, such as tugging, mooring and piloting may also be represented. |
